Past simple : Activity : Norberto "Pappo" Napolitano , the best electric guitarist in the history of Argentinian rock



PAPPO in "Algo ha cambiado".

Norberto Napolitano, popularly known as Pappo, was a singer ,songwriter and electric guitarist. He was one of the first musicians to venture into Heavy Metal in Argentina.
Norberto "Pappo" Napolitano was born on March 10th, 1950 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started playing the guitar when he was eight years old.


Pappo started his music career playing with the best rock bands in Argentina like “Los abuelos de la nada “ (The grandparents of nothing) led by Miguel Abuelo and “Los gatos“ (The cats) led by Lito Nebbia.
In 1970, he decided to search his own music and formed his band Pappo's Blues with David Lebón in bass and in drumms Black Amaya.They released the album with the classics "Algo ha cambiado" ( Something has changed), "Adónde está la libertad" (Where is liberty), "El hombre suburbano" (The Suburban man) y "El viejo" ( The old man).

In 1980, he formed the band Riff with Michel Peyronel, Boff, Vitico and Jaf, where he left the blues inclination and followed Heavy Metal. Pappo played simultaneously in Pappo's blues and Riff. But in 1984 he decided to start a career as a soloist and he released "Blues local" (Local blues) in 1992.

In October of 2003 he edited his last studio album called "Buscando un amor" (Searching for a love), which he presented live on June 18th of 2004, in a memorable show of more than two hours at "The Theatre", during which he showed his talent as one of the best musicians in Argentina.

During his prolific career, Pappo played with great rock and blues international stars like John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Lemmy of Motorhead and the bluesman B. B king.
Also, he won many awards during his outstanding career like the Konex awards on three occasions: in 1985 and 1995 for best rock band and in 2005 for soloist. Pappo is considered till now the best electric guitarist in the history of Argentinian rock.
